Bob Smith Bob Smith, event director and chairman of the organising committee.
Age 66, retired University Lecturer in Materials Technology
Bob is the "organisers' organiser" and has written all the documents, namely the bid, the proposal, and Bulletins 1 and 2.
Bob is former secretary, current treasurer, of BEFA, the British Electric Flight Association.
He is a former chairman of the BMFA Silent Flight Technical Committee and member of BMFA Council.
Writes articles on electric flight technology in QEFI and the BMFA magazine.
Flies "electroslot", the UK version of duration-precision electric soaring, and has several times been British champion.
Mike Proctor Mike Proctor, event manager/treasurer.
Age 58, retired teacher of Design/Technology.
Electric representative on the BMFA Silent Flight Technical Committee.
British 7-cell F5B champion in 2003
Organiser of the very successful 1983 world championship for F3B in York, on the Knavesmire, just like this one.
As a former chairman of the BMFA Silent Flight Technical Committee and living in York, Mike was the "moving spirit" behind this championship, and has done most of the local negotiations.
Writes a column on electric flight in the BMFA magazine.
Mike's two sons will be working hard on transmitter control and Base A during the competition.

Age 64, retired electrical and controls engineer.
Flying electric since 1980 (Hummingbird), F5B since 1989. In UK team for F5B since Australia 1994.
20th in 2002 World Championship, Winterthur.
British F5B champion in 1991, 1999 and 2003.
Attended all world championships so far, entering many open events such as 30 minute glider (2nd in Lommel 1986, 1st St.Louis 1988) and Sunrise-sunset (team 1st in 1988, 1990).
Formerly employed by CERN in Geneva thus able to participate in many Electric events "on the continent" and knows many competitors.
Stephem Mettam Stephen Mettam, F5B contest director.
Age 63, retired art lecturer, former editor of Electric Flight International, proprietor of the "Electric Aeroplane Company".
Team manager for the UK F5B team at Lommel in 1986, UK F5B team Pilot 1988, 1990.
Attended almost all F5B world championships.

Model flying since the age of 8, initially IC
returning after a 14 yearlay off in 1999 to fly exclusively electric models.
Competitor in UK F5B Open Class.
Sabine Konrath Sabine Konrath, F5D competition director.
Sabine has been involved in the running of the last three F5D World Championships, even stepping in as contest director when needed (as she did for the 2000 world championship in San Diego, USA.)
As "Madame Kontronik" Sabine is well known on the F5 competition circuit.
Knows the software in Kontronik controllers and has wound many an F5B motor.
Kontronik motors and controllers have won several world championships.
Mother of two young children, likes touring on motorbike with husband Harald.
Hans Koot Hans Koot, assistant F5D competition director, timing
Age 46, Electronics engineer for custom automation of Injection Moulding Machines.
Radio controlled model flyer since 1981, only electric powered planes.
Contest director 1st sunrise –sunset 1986 (Lommel).
Visited all WC till 1999 as helper(F5B) or pilot/helper(F5D) or Team manager for the Netherlands.
Made the time-keeping system for F5D WC 1998 in Germany.
Barry Flude Barry Flude, Safety/Security officer.
Age 51, owner of Silverwood Display Stands, one of our sponsors.
Barry is, like Mike, from York and is responsible for our infrastructure, safety, batteries and such things as need a local touch.
Barry was British F5F champion in 2003.
Nick Neve Nick Neve, age 70, deputy event director and BMFA/FAI/Jury Liaison. On the organising committee of the 1983 F3B world championship in York, Knavesmire. Organiser and Event Director of the first F3J world championship in Upton-upon-Severn in 1998. British F3B team manager in 1979 and 1983.
Nick was UK F3B champion in 1984.
Modelling since the age of 10, Organised the first RC soaring contest in the UK in 1969. Founder member and one time President of the British Association of Radio Controlled Soarers, Director of the BMFA and CIAM delegate 1995 - 2003.
He is retired, having formerly been an army officer, a research scientist and finally working in the UK diplomatic service in Canberra, Australia. Nick is married; he and his wife Pat have three sons and nine grandchildren.
