Sponsors

Silverwood Exhibitions. Based in York and owned by our Safety Officer, Barry Flude, this company builds, erects, supervises and dismantles exhibition display stands for major exhibitions both in the UK and on the continent of Europe. Silverwood Exhibitions have sponsored the event financially, and by making available their premises for the committtee meetings, and the buildup and storage of the event material. Silverwood are also sponsoring the UK team at the championship with clothing.
Puffin Models are sponsoring the event financially and in support. They supply a wide range of equipment for electric flight
Traplet Publications, through the specialist Magazine Quiet and Electric Flight, are sponsoring the event by printing the program, incorporating it in the August issue, and giving copies at cost price for inclusion with the entry documention and for sale to the public. This magazine was formerly edited, as Electric Flight International, by the F5B contest director Stephen Mettam.
Graupner are sponsoring the event in several ways, including prizes.
Gliders are the UK agents for Graupner, and have helped greatly in arranging the sponsorship by Graupner of the World Championships in York.
Multicell are sposoring us by providing leisure 12V batteries at low cost for rent and subsequent sale to participants.
Harrisons are sponsoring us by providing the the signs which will direct to and around the flying site, and helping with the stickers which will adorn your plane and model boxes for years to come.
ACT Europe have provided us with their frequency scanning equipment at no cost, in order to help with your safe flying.
Yorwaste have provided us with skip at no cost, and will re-cycle all our waste (new planes for old?).
Overlander have provided us with batteries for the frequency scanning system at no cost.
BEFA, the British Electric Flight Association, is the UK specialist electric flight organisation. BEFA members are playing a major part in manning the World Championship. The final day of the event, Sunday 15th August, will be a BEFA international fly-in, a type of event for which BEFA is justly famous. Our Championship Committee chairman is treasurer of BEFA.
The BMFA, British Model Flying Association, is our supervising body, member of CIAM, and ultimately responsible for the event through its Silent Flight Technical Committee. Our event manager, Mike Proctor, is a member of this "SFTC". The BMFA have sponsored us by making available their administrative resources and providing insurance. Unfortunately there are so many competitions organised under the aegis of the BMFA that they are obliged to insist that all events be self-supporting, which is why some our things are not "gold-plated". Nevertheless their support in many other ways equates to a significant financial contribution.
