Early arrivals

Teams arriving early should contact Mike Proctor on arrival to arrange for batteries and tents as negotiated already, and for practice field information.

Locations

Please note that registration will take place in the The Racecourse Centre. The camping, model processing, battery room and flying area are located at the Racecourse. These are on opposite sides of the large grass expanse of the Knavesmire racecourse, a couple of minutes walk apart, but quite different locations by car. The Racecourse is well signposted in the region. The "Racecourse Centre", former Jockey Club, is located on the A1036 Tadcaster road into York, on the right hand side going in, just before the Holiday Inn going in. If you miss it turn into Cherry Lane for the Holiday Inn, then go back a few tens of metres along the A1036 and turn left into the Racecourse centre.

Camp site

The camping site is located at the Racecourse itself and will be open from 14:00 on Thursday 5th August.

Registration

Registration will be open in the Racecourse Centre from 10:00am on Friday 6th August. All participants are asked to report to the Registration desk as soon as possible thereafter to receive their information packs, etc. Pilots must bring their transmitters for checking and identification affixation at the time of registration. Organisation staff will be around at the registration area to provide help and answer any questions.

Model processing

The model processing area is located on the Racecourse. It will be open from 10:00am on Saturday 7th. An accurate method of area measurement has been developed, and a paper describing the technique will be available at the processing tent. No weighing will be done during processing, but the scales to be used during the run-time checks will be available for competitors to weigh their own batteries and models. Run-time checking will be frequent and non-systematic so that a competitor will/may be checked more than once.

On Saturday 7th the processing will be "self-service". This will be reviewed in the evening, and if necessary a fixed time system instituted for the remaining two days. If there is a queue at the processing only two (F5B) or three (F5D) models per competitor will be processed. An additional model(s) can be submitted later after the Open event is finished. Team Managers are required to check at the processing tent on the Sunday morning for information.

Opening Ceremony

The Mayor of York is arriving at 16:00 and the ceremony will start immediately thereafter. We have pole/banners for each country, and we hope to have you all grouped around your poles dressed in your finest team regalia a bit before, say at 15:45.
